Storytelling
Seminar
for Non-Profits
Overview
Storytelling is one of the most important tools that Non-Profits can use to inspire donors, volunteers, and internal teams.
Even though, many non-profits incorporate storytelling in their marketing material, very few use it in their day-to-day interactions with their target groups. Some feel that there are not enough “story worthy moments” in their lives, others are too nervous to speak up in front of an audience, and others are very conscious about time. Let’s be clear: If you’re not using storytelling in your job, you’re missing out on a key technique to connect to your audience.
Stories allow you to build an emotional connection to your listeners and make them be part of something bigger. In our seminar Storytelling for Non-Profits, you will learn how to identify, structure and deliver deliver powerful stories. Get in touch now and discover the storyteller that is within you.

Why do stories matter?
In this module, you will learn how storytelling is used in today’s NGO environment, in which situations it could help you, and what type of stories are most relevant for your organization.
How to craft a powerful story?
In this module, you will learn the 6 steps story structure that you can use to structure compelling stories. First we will discuss the theory together. After that, we will do a group improv exercise to ingrain the story structure. And lastly, we will split in small groups of 2-3 to try out emerging stories.
How to identify stories?
Most non-profits have plenty of story worthy moments. But often these story worthy moments stay with the individual or within a small circle. This module is all about identifying a pool of stories throughout your organization. These can come from your own experience, volunteers, team members, donors, and beneficiaries of your program. You will learn how to spot these stories and extract the information that make them interesting / inspirational.
How to deliver a story?
This module is all about putting the theory to work. First, we will do a few warm-up exercises to help you become comfortable for when it matters. Second, you will practice specific techniques to make the story more compelling. And lastly, you will have the chance to practice your material in front of the group and get feedback from the other participants and your instructor.
